Spring 2018 Softball Season

Registration Information:

Registration is now closed for the spring 2017 season.  Check back in August / September for Fall Ball information.  We host an eight (8) week season beginning October 2017.

 

What does your registration cover?

  • Uniform
  • Insurance coverage for the player
  • League Fees (Red River Softball Association and ASA)
  • Equipment – catcher’s gear, equipment bag and bucket of balls per team
  • Field Maintenance -  Chalk, bases, mowing fields, prepping fields for each game
  • Season scheduler (an individual builds the full season schedule for RRSA) and Umpire scheduler
  • Trophies (End of Season and All Star Tournaments)
  • Game balls

 

Age Requirement:  5 years old as of January 1st of the current year.  Proof of age is required at registration if child is new to VASA sports.

 

Game Information:   Games will be two (2) nights per week.  Games will be played in Van Alstyne along with nearby towns (Bells, Tom Bean, Melissa, S&S, Whitewright, Howe, Pottsboro, Trenton, Leonard)

 

SPRING Season Information: The season begins March 27th and runs through May 13th.  The end of season tournament is scheduled for May 15th – 20th and the All-Stars Tournament is scheduled for May 30th – June 3rd.  Please check with your coach for more information.

 

Practice Information:   Practices are set at the discretion of the coach.  All practice days/times will be determined after registration has closed and teams have been formed.  Coaches will usually have two (2) practices a week until the season begins.  Practice for the spring season will start the end February.  Practice for the fall season will start the end of August.

 

Uniforms & Equipment:   A full uniform is included in the registration fee. The softball uniform is a jersey, pants, belt, socks and visor.  Equipment is NOT included in the registration fee.  Please discuss with your coach directly if you have questions about the equipment.  Equipment required: Bat (ASA), helmet with face mask/chin strap and glove.

 

Inclement Weather:   Rescheduled games (due to inclement weather) MAY be scheduled during other weeknights and/or the weekends as well.  In the event of multiple rainouts throughout the season, some games may not be rescheduled.  Updates to field conditions will be made by 3pm.  We will do our best to make decisions about closures as quickly as we can each day.

If you would like to be a head coach or assistant coach for a youth softball team this upcoming season, please send an email to softball@vasayouthsports.com.  All Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches will complete a formal background check through the VASA youth sports website during registration.
